Welcome to the blog! If you follow me on Instagram, Facebook and/or Twitter or read my previous blog post, then you probably know that I was on a Juice fast/cleanse/detox last weekend. For years now, I have heard of juice cleanses, researched their benefits and listened to tons of testimonials (mostly of YouTubers promoting juice companies)
During the fast, I received a couple of emails. One person was mad even detested the fact that I was cleansing/detoxing and even calling it a sham. Anyways after a back and forth, we agreed to disagree. After all, to each is their own right?
Before moving on, I want to first disclose that I am not a nutritionist or Doctor so please please please DO NOT attempt this 3 day juice fast /cleanse/detox without first consulting your Doctor or Nutritionist. All opinions are my own, from my own research and understanding. Moving on, my understanding of juice cleanse/detox/fast is that it gives your colon (large intestine) a break and limits the ingestion of toxins e.g from environment, pesticide on our food, chemicals etc. The juice itself doesn't necessary detox you- the liver is by large in charge of that but rather, the juice will be providing you with nutrients for the period that you are giving your colon a break.
Although 3 days can seem like a short amount of time to detox/cleanse/fast, its what I find works for me and my current schedule- this being I make my own juice on demand. Fresh from my juicer from as organically possible produce as I can. You can decide what works for you. Some people first at least once every week others fast 30 days straight a year and some just don't ever.
From the research I have found, regular cleanse/detox/fast is recommended, hence why I have decided to incorporate a 3 day juice fast at the end of every month. As per usual, all the fun is on my Instagram- I'll be posting my favorite juice combinations.
For day 1, I share my simple cucumber-apple recipe. It's just that, Cucumber and Apples.
On Day 1 I was very eager and filed with enthusiasm. The day went by quite easy. The only challenge was to constantly remind myself to not eat solid foods. lol
Day 2 juice recipe consisted of pears, cucumber and kale. This green juice is a mixture of earthy, crispy and sweet taste. If you don't care much for Kale-you can substitute with spinach and other greens.
Day 2 was by far the hardest day. This was the day I was the hungriest and seemed to have more than 24 hours. Day 2 felt like years if you ask me.
Day 3, I shared this beautiful sunny glass or freshly squeezed orange juice! Ah!! If you know me then you know how much I love Oranges.
Day 3 was the easiest of them all! It was the last day of the cleanse/detox/fast and I felt no hunger whatsoever. The only thing was that, I had no bowel movements at all. My colon was totally cleared.
